At CinemaCon on Wednesday, the world could get a first look at James Cameron’s Avatar 2 during Disney’s slate presentation.
The sequel to the 2009 movie will be launched at CinemaCon’s main venue at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where Dolby has outfitted the Colosseum with a premium 4K, high dynamic range, high frame rate, and 3D capable laser-based projection system, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Avatar 2 has been one of the most anticipated films of all time; such was the legacy of the first picture, which grossed $2.84 billion worldwide and was a watershed moment in ushering in the digital 3D age for moviegoers worldwide.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald all reprise their roles from Avatar 1, and Sigourney Weaver also returns.
The sequel to Avatar will be released on December 16, with three more films in the series planned.
