A deal with Centerboro Productions states that the future movie “Helios” will use the Orbital Reef space station, which is owned by Sierra Space and run by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin. In the movie with the year 2030 as its setting, a crew from a spaceship is sent on a rescue mission to the International Space Station when a solar flare damages it.
In a news release on Tuesday, the firms stated that the project’s objectives are to provide people with a realistic representation of what it might be like to live and work in space in the future and to help people prepare for a space weather disaster.
Whether Bezos will make an appearance in the film or whether the space station will be used for filming is uncertain. The affluent were depicted in the 2016 film “Star Trek Beyond.” Since then, films with a space theme have been created. The Challenge, a space thriller, is currently being filmed aboard the International Space Station by a Russian film crew. A Tom Cruise movie is slated to begin production at some time in 2019, though no specific date has been set.
