Fans get their first good glimpse at Hanks as the lonely woodcarver who desires a son in the two-minute trailer. Ben Evan Ainsworth’s Pinocchio is given life by the Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo), who also plays Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who tries to act as the wooden boy’s conscience as he battles temptation and adventure. Only a few days prior, Disney released the first visible glimpse of its CGI design for the movie’s titular wooden boy, which resembles that character’s appearance in the animated version.
The Pinocchio from the 1940 animated classic resembles the new version from 2022 quite a bit. The joyful yellow cap, the red suspender pants, the blue vest, the bow tie, as well as the classic Disney character white gloves are all present.
Compared to the teaser video from May, which featured short shots of the cast against the iconic song from the original, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” as performed by Erivo, the most recent trailer offers a lot more information about the tone and direction of the live-action remake.
