The Merc with a Mouth might soon invade Hawkins, Indiana. Shawn Levy, the show’s executive producer, and director spoke with Variety’s Marc Malkin on the Emmys red carpet on September 12 about the upcoming “Stranger Things” Cinematic Universe. “Yes, we are expanding the STCU, and since I’ve been interacting with Kevin Feige, the chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment, I’ve been learning a lot about how to manage a universe,” the speaker continued.

Levy will serve as the director of the upcoming third Deadpool film in addition to “Stranger Things.” When asked if there would be a crossover between the two series, Levy gave an unexpected answer. Funny enough, he and Ryan Reynolds, who plays “Deadpool,” talked about how they might combine “Deadpool” and “Stranger Things,” saying, “It’s on the table, but we haven’t cracked it yet.” The Duffer Brothers are creating a stage play as well as a spin-off STCU television series.

When announcing the STCU, Ted Sarandos, co-CEO, and chief content officer of Netflix, said Matt and Ross have an exceptionally remarkable skill with a vision that is so clear and straightforward. Because “Stranger Things” is all about the details, it’s hardly surprising that it has pierced the zeitgeist to become the epic pop culture phenomenon it is today. As Upside Down Pictures grows, we are excited to welcome Hilary [Leavitt] as a creative partner and to keep developing new stories with them.
