New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on August 13, 2021) follows:
Developed by a Swedish indie game studio called Neon Giant, ‘The Ascent’ is an RPG game that takes place in a cyberpunk-themed world.
Like Splitgate, Neon Giant has a pretty small team with just 11 developers onboard. The game is developed using Unreal Engine 4 and was released on Windows and Xbox devices on July 29.
Players can finish the game solo or complete it with friends in co-op mode. However, the game is known to have a few bugs here and there.
Having said that, ‘The Ascent’ is pretty much stable after the August 6 patch, with the Codex bug being one of the annoyances that hasn’t been fixed yet.
In the last couple of days, several players have reported that they cannot complete the Codex achievements.
The two entries that seem to be affected by the bug include the ‘Comprehensive’ and ‘Flatliners’.
According to players, other achievements seem to be bugged as well, but we are not sure if it’s the case.
While the bug is not game-breaking in any sense, it is really annoying if you are a completionist.
Fortunately, ‘The Ascent’ developers have acknowledged the Codex bug and said they are working on a fix.
We hope Neon Giant fixes ‘The Ascent’ codex bug in the coming days so players can finally have a sense of satisfaction completing the game.
Update (September 29)
11:40 pm (IST): The Ascent seems to have a few more bugs, at least according to players. Multiple players note that the ‘Win’ achievement is bugged and luckily, that has since been acknowledged.
In fact, there are a few other achievements that are bugged, and below is a user-shared summary list of the same.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned.
