Elon Musk beats Apple to the AirPower with a $300 wireless charger. Tesla has recently announced the launch of its wireless charging platform that can charge three devices simultaneously. AirPower is an unreleased wireless charging mat developed by Apple Inc. in 2017. It was designed to charge up to three devices simultaneously, supporting two Qi devices, such as an iPhone and AirPods, and an Apple Watch.

It was announced on September 12, 2017. Formerly scheduled to be released in early 2018, AirPower failed to materialize, leading to wide speculation over the product’s future. On March 29 2019 Apple confirmed the cancellation of AirPower.

Tesla on 22nd December 2022 announced the launch of the Tesla Wireless Charging Platform. A $300 wireless charger that is able to charge up to three Qi devices at one time. The concept is somewhat similar to the AirPower that Apple wanted to produce. The three devices to be charged can be placed anywhere on the Tesla charging mat, receiving up to 15W of power each.

The angular design of the mat is inspired by Cybertruck says the company. The wireless charger uses FreePower. A technology from Aira that has been used in other wireless charging platforms. This charger is limited to only Qi-based devices like iPhones, AirPods, etc but does not charge watches.
