If there’s one thing the world needs right now (and always, for that matter), it’s surprise Apple TV Plus hit Ted Lasso. The always hilarious and surprisingly deep comfort show has helped many a soul navigate their way through recent turbulent years. It’s funny how a show about sports is an arguably more fulfilling experience than sports themselves.

So now that current events seem to be doubling down in the despair department, it should come as at least a small respite for many to hear that Ted Lasso season 3 is officially in production. Even after season 2’s dramatic cliffhanger, the show’s status as one big mug of chamomile tea for the soul remains intact. With that in mind, the show does appear to be poised for at least one change when it starts up again. But odds are it won’t be the only one.

The official Apple TV Plus Twitter account commemorated the occasion by retweeting Nike, as one does. The Nike account posted what appears to be a teaser shot of the slightly redesigned uniforms to be worn by the show’s football/soccer club AFC Richmond. The retweet from Apple TV Plus reads, “New Season. New Kits. @TedLasso Season 3 has started production.” Apparently, the team (and series itself) has a new sponsor this time around. The design seems largely the same as the equipment (or “kit”) worn by the team in the first couple seasons. But now it features the signature Nike “swoosh” logo.

Even the “official” AFC Richmond Twitter account got in on the fun, retweeting Nike’s post and adding, “Just believe it. So proud to have @Nike as our new official kit supplier.” Not to be outdone, the account for Ted himself, based on the titular character played by Jason Sudeikis, also quipped a response. “This kit announcement marks an important milestone I never dreamed would happen: me using ‘kit’ correctly in a sentence.” Ted Lasso seems to have gone all-in on its meta aspect, and fans likely wouldn’t have it any other way.

Ted Lasso stars Sudeikis in the title role as an American football coach hired to take charge of an English football team in London. While it eventually turns out that he was hired specifically with hopes that he would doom the team to failure and obscurity based on his inexperience with the sport, his relentless optimism and charm eventually win over pretty much everybody while he ends up proving himself as a more than competent coach. Featuring a huge group of lovable characters (and a few who are quite easy to hate), the show quickly found a place in the hearts of countless viewers. The endlessly peppy Ted Lasso also stars Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster, and enough other excellent cast members to fill an entirely new paragraph.

While no release date has been confirmed for season 3 yet, just knowing for sure that there’s more Ted Lasso on the horizon is certainly enough to get fans pumped. After the end of season 2, which saw Nick Mohammed’s character Nate apparently complete his transformation from adorable and shy equipment manager into this show’s version of a villain, viewers sympathized with the betrayal felt by Ted and the rest of the team. So seeing how that all plays out is certainly something to get excited about.

Ted Lasso is available to stream on Apple TV Plus.
