The game has seen plenty of success on Twitch as well, with a multitude of big-name streamers like Shroud and Asmongold sharing their New World experiences. Despite the game’s quick success, there is a particularly popular Twitch streamer, Summit1g, who has no interest in live-broadcasting New World at this point in time.

Summit1g then further elaborated his thoughts on New World and MMOs in general versus other genres like competitive shooters, “I’d rather get nice, cheeky 1v1s than 6v6s… That’s the thing about MMO’s, there’s a ceiling and everybody hits it. It means everyone else below them catches up.”

Summit1g certainly makes some criticims regarding New World and the nature of MMORPGs versus competitive shooters like Counter-Strike or Valorant. MMORPGs like New World are typically built around grinding and building your character over time, instead of the quick decision-making and reflexes used in online FPSs like Call of Duty: Warzone. The games are simply trying to achieve different goals with their designs, and as such, will draw contrasting player types. With Summit1g’s preferences, he likely won’t be playing New World anytime soon.

New World is available on PC.
