The Rinnegan is an extremely powerful Kekkei Genkai in the Naruto world that only a handful of people have managed to awaken so far. Known to be one of the Three Great Dojutsu, the Rinnegan is the strongest of the lot and offers powers that are considered to be godly.
This eye is known to manifest only when the world is about to undergo a major change and the wielder holds the power to either save the world or destroy it. So far, very few Narutocharacters have had access to the Rinnegan but those who have are certainly in a league of their own.
9 Zetsu
Zetsu was the will incarnate of Kaguya Otsutsuki who planned to revive his mother by tricking Madara Uchiha. During the Fourth Great Ninja War, he took control of Obito Uchiha’s body, and thus gained access to the Rinnegan.
He didn’t use the eye much, other than using Rinne Tensei to return Madara Uchiha to life. Zetsu’s usage of the eye was nothing special, which is why he remains its weakest user so far.
8 Nagato Uzumaki
Nagato was first person in the story who appeared with a Rinnegan. One of the Amegakure orphans, Nagato was trained by Jiraiya in the hope that he would become the Child of Prophecy. While Nagato ended up taking the wrong path, he was quite skilled with the Rinnegan.
He could access all Six Paths with great proficiency and could even fight two perfect Jinchuriki at once using this eye. His Six Paths of Pain was another clever usage of this mighty eye.
7 Urashiki Otsutsuki
Urashiki Otsutsuki appeared in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations as a powerful villain who had his eye on the Nine-Tails chakra. Urashiki was an anime-only villain, which is why he wasn’t nearly as impressive as he could’ve been.
Urashiki was rather weak despise being an Otsutsuki and his usage of the Rinnegan was very crude. Eventually, Urashiki was defeated by a tag team of Boruto Uzumaki and Naruto Uzumaki from the past, which just shows that he wasn’t good user of his eyes.

Urashiki Otsutsuki had quite a powerful Rinnegan, and he could use two of its variants.
6 Kara’s Ten-Tails
The Ten-Tails was first awakened during the Fourth Great Ninja War by Obito Uchiha. This Ten-Tails was quite powerful and had the Rinne Sharingan in its forehead. Another Ten-Tails was introduced in Boruto, and this one belonged to the Kara. Unlike the original Ten-Tails, this one has the power of the Rinnegan and also possesses massive reserves of chakra.
Based on how much chakra it has, its strength must be off the charts. Whether the beast can utilize the Rinnegan to the fullest or not remains to be seen.
5 Obito Uchiha
Obito Uchiha gained the Rinnegan after Nagato Uzumaki died. Strangely, having both eyes was too much for his body to handle, so he only implanted one Rinnegan into himself. Nonetheless, Obito’s usage of this eye was quite great.
Obito created his own version of the Six Paths of Pain and used the Gedo Statue quite cleverly in combat. He also manifested the chakra chains offered by the Rinnegan, along with the black rods. Obito then became the Jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails, further strengthening himself and his ocular powers.
4 Madara Uchiha
Madara was the first person since the Sage of Six Paths to awaken the Rinnegan. He achieved this feat by biting off some of Hashirama’s flesh and incorporating its powers into his own body.
Towards the end of his life, Madara had awakened the Rinnegan. Being the original user of the eyes that Nagato and Obito possessed, only Madara was able to utilize their true power. He was able to use every path with great skill and could even rain down meteorites. Madara’s biggest Rinnegan power was definitely Limbo.
Madara’s Rinnegan Ability
While Madara Uchiha didn’t have a Mangekyo Sharingan ability for some reason, his Rinnegan did have incredible power. Madara’s Rinnegan permitted him to use a power called Limbo: Hengoku. This ability allowed him to summon clones of himself from a different dimension.
These clones couldn’t be sensed or seen by anyone, except for those with the Rinnegan or Six Paths Senjutsu. The strength of these clones was immense as just a few hits from them was enough to take down even the Tailed Beasts. With both his eyes, Madara could produce four Limbo clones at once.
3 Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke Uchiha awakened the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan during the Fourth Great Ninja War, but this power was still not enough for him to take on Madara in combat. After having a near-death experience, Sasuke met the Sage of Six Paths and received half of his powers.
After recovering, Sasuke’s left Sharingan had evolved into a Rinnegan with six tomoe, making him extremely powerful. Sasuke’s Rinnegan gave him access to all the Six Paths, which he used brilliantly in the war. What’s more, he also had the power to teleport by swapping himself over short distances.
Sasuke’s Rinnegan Ability
Sasuke Uchiha’s Rinnegan is quite useful as well. Just like Urashiki, Sasuke has six tomoe in his Rinnegan, which indicate the special abilities of his eye. When charged fully, Sasuke can use his eye to perform Amenotejikara, a powerful Jutsu that allows him to swap places with anyone around him instantaneously.
After mastering the eye, Sasuke also learned how to open portals to different dimensions using his space-time Dojutsu. Without a doubt, Sasuke’s Rinnegan had great utility.
2 Momoshiki Otsutsuki
Momoshiki Otsutsuki appeared as the main antagonist of Boruto: Naruto the Movie, and as expected, he held the power of the Rinnegan as well. Momoshiki had two Rinnegan, one in each palm of his hands. Although he didn’t use the Six Paths powers, he could’ve been capable of using them.
Momoshiki was powerful enough to take on both Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha at once, showing that he was a cut above the rest.
Momoshiki’s Rinnegan Ability
Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s Rinnegan wasn’t nearly as powerful as that of Urashiki Otsutsuki, however, it was quite useful nonetheless. Using its incredible power, Momoshiki could absorb any ninjutsu or chakra thrown towards him by his opponents. This chakra could either be stored within him, or be expelled from his other Rinnegan by making it several times bigger and stronger. Throughout his fight with the shinobi, Momoshiki Otsutsuki used this ability several times, and it proved to be quite effective.
1 Hagoromo Otsutsuki
The Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki was certainly the strongest of all the Rinnegan users in Naruto. Unlike the other Rinnegan which are Kekkei Genkai, his was considered to be a Kekkei Mora, meaning its powers surpassed a regular Rinnegan.
Hagoromo could use all the Six Paths powers and even perform acts such as creating the moon with Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei, along with his brother. Hagoromo is much stronger than most other characters in the story, and much of that is down to his Rinnegan.
