After so many sci-fi fictions and huge succeeding films in a single year, Season 4 of Stranger Things has managed to make its space among them. This season of Netflix’s paranormal ’80s homage was a huge success for the streaming service, garnering attention for both its ambitious story and movie-length episodes.

But as all good things come to an end. It’s time for Stranger Things to come to an end, too. Season 5 of Stranger Things 5 will be the last season for the show. Makers Matt and Ross Duffer said that the final season will be less overcrowded than season 4, due to the characters being reunited and a greater emphasis on the original cast. He mentioned that now they have a better picture in their head about what they want to depict in their movie.

The Stranger Things writer’s room’s Twitter account posted an image, indicating that work on the show’s final season was on its “grid stage,” where the writers will presumably plot out the season’s overall arc and how it breaks down into specific episodes. The last season of 4 episodes had nine episodes, according to the whiteboard in the image. Maker Matt quoted, “I don’t think the runtimes will be as extreme in season 5. We’re trying to return to the simplicity of the structure in season 1, with bigger scale and scope”. With this, the image showed a bunch of 8 episodes, in contrast to the 9 episodes of the fourth season.
