The mysterious Mr. Qi is one of Stardew Valley’s most powerful people. Based on his appearance, he may not even be human, but he has a great interest in the player and their progress. He seems friendly towards the player, and fan theories even suggest he has some relation to the player’s Grandpa, who gives them the farm at the start of the game.

Once the player has found 100 Golden Walnuts on Ginger Island, the door to Mr. Qi’s room is unlocked, where he will give the player the ultimate challenge. To please Mr. Qi, the player must achieve “perfection”, which essentially means reaching 100% completion in Stardew Valley. It’s a grind, but the rewards are great.

Perfection Rewards

Before players begin this challenge, they should know what’s in it for them. To which the answer is quite a lot. Golden Eggs & Golden Chickens become purchasable, which earn a lot of money, and the “???” hat unlocks, which is based on the developer, ConceredApe’s avatar.

Additionally, an area unlocks known as The Summit, where a finale cutscene and credits will play. However, the biggest reward is the Statue of True Perfection, which produces an exceptionally rare Prismatic Shard for the player every single day.

Produce & Forage Shipped

The first challenge is perhaps the most obvious, ship one of every shippable item from the Farm & Forage tab in the menu. The collections section of the menu will be a vital tool for players to track how much they’ve done.

This includes every type of crop, artisan good, flower, ore, ingot, mushroom, and a few misc items to boot. The hardest of these items to get hold of is the Ancient Fruit and the Radioactive bar. One requires exceptional luck, whilst the other requires getting extremely far into the game and completing some of Mr. Qi’s special orders.

Obelisks On The Farm

One of the things even veteran players may not realize is that there are constructible buildings for the farm known as obelisks. After completing the Goblin Problem quest from the Wizard, these will unlock. They teleport the player to the warp point in different areas of the map, like the warp totems. Crafting each requires 5-20 Iridium Bars and items unique to the location.

The Earth Obelisk requires 10 Earth Crystals; Water Obelisk requires 10 Clam & 10 Coral; Desert Obelisk requires 10 Coconut & 10 Cactus Fruit; Island Obelisk requires 10 Dragon Teeth & 10 Bananas. Crafting all four on the farm will satisfy this challenge.

Golden Clock On The Farm

Alongside the Obelisks, the Wizard offers an exceptionally useful item for construction on the farm. This golden clock prevents any kind of decay from happening on the farm. This means that debris will stop spawning and destroying crops. Additionally, fences will no longer break.

This brilliant item doesn’t come cheap, however. No amount of resources will earn the player this one, just cold hard cash. 10 Million g, to be precise. Players will have to ramp up the production on their farm significantly to get the money for this.

Monster Slayer Hero

The Adventurer’s Guild offers excellent rewards for players who complete their challenges. Slaying the high number of monsters required to get all of them will take a lot of time down in the Mines or Skull Caverns.

Players will need to put that grind in, though, as they will need to complete all of these objectives to fulfill this challenge’s requirements. The hardest of these is undoubtedly the 1000 slimes. Even though they are the most common enemies, players will need to look into breeding their own to slay the vast numbers required.

Great Friends

Not counting any children the player may have, there are a total of 34 villagers in Stardew Valley with whom the player can have a friendship/relationship. For this challenge, players must get to know every single one of them as deeply as possible, maxing out their heart value.

For the game’s bachelors, this is just 8 hearts, but for everyone else, it’s 10. Maintaining this level of friendship with everyone will take some planning, but it can be done. Players will need to make sure they’ve got an ample supply of gifts ready to go.

Farmer Level

This is one of the easiest of Mr. Qi’s challenges, as by the time players have reached this late stage in the game, they will likely have very high levels anyway. However, there might be a grind to complete the last few levels, as this challenge requires players to have Level 10 in everything.

Grinding these can be tedious, but it’s nothing super complicated. Players should dive into the Skull Cavern for Combat; break rocks in the Mines/Quarry for Mining; continue growing & harvesting crops for Farming; chopping trees & stumps for Foraging; and catching fish for Fishing.

Find All Stardrops

The clue is in the name for this one. Stardrops are items that permanently increase the player’s maximum energy, and there are seven total in the game. For this challenge, players must find all of them. They often require completing substantial challenges. These seven Stardrops are:

  • Purchasable at the Stardew Valley Fair for 2000 points Reach Floor 100 in the Mines Getting 12.5 Friendship Hearts with a Spouse Purchasable from Krobus in the Sewers for 20,000g Give the statue in the Secret Woods a Sweet Gem Berry In the mail from Willy after obtaining the Master Angler Achievement Donate all 95 Items to the Museum

Several of these challenges require 100% completion in other aspects of the game, meaning getting this challenge is a massive step on the road to perfection.

Cooking & Crafting Recipes Made

Heading back into the collections tab in the menu, there are plenty of things that players need to make to achieve perfection. Bringing lots of different types of food together to cook the most wonderous dishes, and turning raw materials into lots of valuable things.

To get all of these, players essentially have to complete two challenges. Gathering the resources to make each recipe is difficult enough, but players will have to go out and find several rare recipes before they can even craft them. It’s the kind of thing that players will struggle to do without a guide.

Fish Caught

In all the game’s different bodies of water, seasons, times, and several other factors, there is a massive amount of fish catchable in Stardew Valley. Players will already have quite a lot if they’ve completed the community center, but there are still some very rare fish out there.

The game’s Legendary Fish must all be caught, which are extremely difficult to find and even more challenging to catch in the fishing minigame. Thankfully, Mr. Qi sells a helpful item for this quest. For 5 Qi Gems, players can buy some Magic Bait, which removes most of the requirements for fish to appear, meaning they can appear at any time of day, during any season.

Golden Walnuts Found

The final task is centered around Ginger Island and the difficult tasks therein. Players will need to track down all 130 Golden Walnuts for this task. 100 are needed to access Mr. Qi’s room in the first place, and 116 are needed to upgrade the island entirely.

That leaves 14 Walnuts tucked away in all sorts of annoying nooks and crannies. The player is granted some for doing just about everything, including fishing, exploring the Volcano dungeon, mining, and farming crops on the island. There are plenty more, though, locked behind puzzles and secret paths that will leave players scouring every inch of the island. Such is the price of perfection.

Stardew Valley is currently available on Android, iOS, Linux, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS Vita & Xbox One.
