Taking a risk and going where nobody has gone before is… fine. Going against the grain of what we’ve all done before, though, might not be all terrible. That is the major bet of Star Trek: Picard season 3, which combines Patrick Stewart’s Star Trek captain with his old crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation in addition to bringing him back for one last adventure.

We got our first glimpses of LeVar Burton’s Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn’s Worf, Gates McFadden’s Dr. Beverly Crusher, as well as Marina Sirtis’ Deanna Troi in the trailer for the nostalgically charged season 3, which will air in February. Along with Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd, former Next Gen and Picard actors Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner also make a comeback in the show. Terry Matalas, the creator of the television series 12 Monkeys, takes over as showrunner for this, the final, season.

The USS Titan, piloted by Captain William T. Riker, is a spaceship with significant Enterprise vibes, and it is revealed in the Picard season 3 trailer despite the lack of story details. Things are still not good in the utopian future as we also witness Dr. Crusher fending off some masked enemies with a rifle and a Federation building collapsing!

When Star Trek: Picard season 3 releases on Paramount Plus on February 16, 2023, it will be evident what’s happening and why Picard needs to call his work family for assistance.
