Squid Game season two has formally been confirmed by Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer, Ted Sarandos. The information got here in the course of an interview focused on the streaming platform’s 2021 fourth quarter earnings, and when requested if the hit sequence would be making a comeback, Sarandos answered, “Absolutely. The Squid Game universe has just begun.”

Though followers had hoped and predicted that the sequence would be coming back after comments made by the show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the confirmation from Sarandos allowed a collective sigh of comfort as we now know that season two is honestly a go. Hwang teased viewers ultimate fall, announcing that the creative team had been put beneath “so lots pressure” as properly as given “so a good deal love for a 2nd season”. So much so that Hwang said, “I nearly sense like you go away us no choice!” He observed it up with a indistinct affirmation of the new season saying, “I will say there will certainly be a 2d season. It’s in my head proper now. I’m in the planning system currently.”

In the Nov. 9 AP video, Hwang said, “it’s too early to say when and how” a 2nd season will happen. One component looks clear: It may not take as long as the first season, which he started planning a decade ago.

And when the Netflix co-CEO verified the information in January 2022, he did not even point out a date.
