Popular music and podcast streaming platform Spotify has announced Spotify Wrapped for the year 2020. The much-awaited data suggests that Neha Kakkar, Arijit Singh and Tanishk Bagchi are the most-streamed artists in India on Spotify this year. Among the top 5, Arijit Singh holds the first position followed by Tanishk Bagchi and Neha Kakkar. Pritam sits at the fifth position with BTS being the only International artist on this list at the fourth position.
This year’s top 3 most-streamed songs in India include ‘Shayad’ by Arijit Singh, Pritam and Irshad Kamil, ‘Falling’ by Trevor Daniel and ‘Ghungroo’ by Arijit Singh, Shilpa Rao, Kumaar and Vishal-Shekhar. While these were the songs, the top album for the year is Kabir Singh, just as last year.
The list of the most-streamed female artists in India includes Neha Kakkar, Shreya Ghoshal, Asees Kaur, Tulsi Kumar and Dhvani Bhanushali.
On the global front, Bad Bunny, Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD and The Weeknd topped the charts to become the most-streamed artists globally, while, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande were among the top female artists.
Also, The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights,’ was the most-streamed song this year. The song has over 200 million views on YouTube and 1.6 billion streams on Spotify. Following that was ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones And I, ‘The Box’ by Roddy Ricch, ‘Roses – Imanbek Remix’ by Imanbek, SAINt JHN and ‘Don’t Start Now’ by Dua Lipa.
This year Spotify says that there has been an increase in the work from home themed playlists. There has also been a significant increase in the streaming of playlists such as at-home haircut playlists, garden-themed playlists, home cleaning playlists etc. Another important playlist called The Spotify Black Lives Matter gained huge popularity.
