On social media, Sonam Kapoor responded to the Karnataka hijab controversy. She inquired as to why a hijab isn’t an option when a turban is. The ban on the hijab in schools and colleges enacted by the Karnataka government has sparked widespread outrage and protests across the state. The state administration has cited section 133 (2) of the Karnataka Education Act-1983, which states that uniform clothing must be worn at all times.
SONAM KAPOOR REACTS TO THE HIJAB DISCUSSION
Earlier, Kamal Haasan, Richa Chadha, Onir, and Aly Goni all spoke out over the Karnataka hijab controversy. Now, Sonam Kapoor has uploaded a social media post on her Instagram stories. It featured a photo of a guy wearing a turban and a woman wearing a hijab, and it questioned why a turban could be worn but not a hijab.
JAVED AKHTAR’S REACTION TO THE HIJAB RACE
Protesters in Karnataka have been heckling ladies, according to Javed Akhtar. He penned, “I’ve never been a fan of the hijab or the burqa. I still believe it, but I have nothing but tremendous disgust for these hordes of hooligans who are attempting, but failing, to intimidate a tiny group of females. Is this how they define “MANLINESS”? It’s a shame (sic).”
Take a look at this tweet from Javed Akhtar:
I have never been in favour of Hijab or Burqa. I still stand by that but at the same time I have nothing but deep contempt for these mobs of hooligans who are trying to intimidate a small group of girls and that too unsuccessfully. Is this their idea of “MANLINESS” . What a pity
