For years, Motorola has manufactured smartphones that often justify their price-to-performance ratio. It also happens to be one of the few smartphone companies that offer a near-stock Android experience.
While the Motorola Edge lineup consists of high-end premium devices, the most popular one is the mid-range Moto G series.
That said, several Moto G series device owners are now reporting that the alarm icon is showing up in the notification bar even though they haven’t set up any alarm (1,2,3).
Users say they are confused and wondering as to what is happening. Generic troubleshooting solutions such as restarting the Clock app, clearing data and cache, resetting app restrictions, and rebooting into Safe Mode aren’t helping either.
While Motorola is yet to officially acknowledge the problem, we did come across a workaround that might help fix the problem.
It looks like clearing the voicemail app data and cache temporarily makes the alarm icon go away only to come back in some time.
We hope Motorola developers soon find out why this is happening and push an update that fixes the problem.
